Privacy policy

Short version: you don't need an account, we don't use cookies, and we don't sell anyone's information.

Who we are

Car Boot Calendar is run by Charlie Broddle, a sole trader trading as Car Boot Calendar, Marble House, 14 Masonry Place, Hayes, UB3 1EU. We are registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (registration number ZC266024). For anything about your information, email hello@carbootcalendar.co.uk.

When you browse the site

You can use the whole site without telling us who you are. The site is hosted by Cloudflare, which handles your device's IP address and basic request details so pages can be delivered and the site protected from attacks. If we turn on visitor statistics, we use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which counts visits without cookies and without identifying you.

When you search by postcode or location

If you type a postcode, your browser sends it to postcodes.io, a free UK postcode lookup service, to find where it is. The distance to each car boot is then worked out in your browser. We don't receive or keep your postcode.

If you tap "Use my location", your browser asks your permission first. Your location is used only on your device to sort the list, and is never sent to us.

When you contact us or send an organiser update

If you email us or use the "Confirm your dates" form, we receive what you send: usually your name, email address, the car boot's details and a link to where you publish your dates. We use it only to check your message, reply and update the listing. Our legal basis is our legitimate interest in keeping listings accurate (or, for organisers, taking the steps you've asked for).

Emails are kept in our email account (Apple iCloud). Form messages are delivered through a form service (Formspree). We keep messages while the listing is active and for up to two years after, then delete them.

Information about car boots

We publish details that organisers have made public: their own wording about days, dates and times, their website, and contact details they publish for the sale. If a sale is run by a private individual, we show only the town, not a home address. Organisers can ask us to correct or remove a listing at any time.

Who we share information with

We never sell personal information. We use a small number of services to run the site: Cloudflare (hosting), Apple iCloud (email), Formspree (forms) and postcodes.io (postcode lookups). Some of these may process information outside the UK; where they do, they use the legal safeguards UK data protection law requires.

Adverts

There are no adverts on the site at the moment. If we add them, we'll update this page first and ask for your consent before any advertising cookies are used.

Your rights

You can ask to see the information we hold about you, have it corrected or deleted, object to how we use it, or ask us to limit its use. Email hello@carbootcalendar.co.uk and we'll reply within one month. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Changes

If we change how we use information, we'll update this page. Last updated 17 October 2026.
