Indoor and winter car boot sales: what's different
Most outdoor car boots stop in the autumn, but some carry on all year, and indoor sales run through the winter.
When the season ends
Many outdoor car boots run from spring to the end of October, because fields get too wet in winter. On our pages, when an organiser’s own page shows their season is over, we say so: “2026 season finished”. Then you’re not left guessing.
Indoor car boot sales
Indoor sales are usually held in halls, community centres, leisure centres or covered markets. A few things are different:
- Tables, not car pitches. You usually book or pay for a table rather than a space for your car.
- Smaller and quicker. They tend to be shorter, and space is tight, so bring less stock and a smaller float.
- Booking matters more. Indoor tables can sell out. Check the organiser’s page for how to book.
- Weather-proof, which makes them popular on cold or wet weekends.
Winter outdoor car boots
Some outdoor car boots, often on hardstanding such as car parks, run all year or through the winter. They’re the most likely to be cancelled at short notice, so always check the organiser’s page on the morning.
